HABITAT

Throughout the preserve, there are several points of interest. One of the main attractions is Turtle Pond, a haven for ducks, turtles, frogs, and other small creatures that call it home. Turtle Pond is a man-made pond formed by damming the stream that flows through the park and provides a constant and necessary source of water for wildlife.

Located near the entrance, Turtle Pond serves as a habitat for wildlife.

Another charming spot is Old Maid’s Pond, teeming with life and offering a glimpse into the wonders of aquatic ecosystems. Old Maid’s Pond is vernal. The water fluctuates within the seasons. As you explore, please remember to respect the park and the animals that inhabit it, ensuring their continued well-being and preservation. At both ponds, water spiders, frogs, turtles and ducks are visitors as well as a variety of plants such as Hayscented Ferns, Christmas Ferns, Trout Lillies, and Skunk Cabbage.

Old Maid’s Pond is home to turtles, bullfrogs and other ecosystems.
